Please note, this event will be in Dutch.
Come to the symposium PartnerSHIP – From Tideman to Dutch Naval Design. Help think about the future of naval construction in the Netherlands, inspired by this extraordinary naval man! Someone once called him ‘the Einstein of Dutch shipbuilding’.
150 years ago, naval engineer Bruno Tideman carried out the first model ship trials and renewed Dutch naval construction with the founding of ‘De Schelde’ in Vlissingen. As in his time, we are at the cradle of a new generation of naval ships. How did Tideman deal with that, what can we learn from him, how did naval shipbuilding develop in the century and a half after him and how can we extend those lines into the future in Dutch Naval Design?
In the morning part, we dive deeper into past achievements and developments. In the afternoon, we will build the future together. In an interactive festival programme around ‘Dutch Naval Design’, you can partly already experience the future and the shipbuilding of the future will take centre stage.
Finally, Vice-Admiral Jan Willem Hartman (Commander COMMIT) will talk to a group of young people about the future they will shape and will receive a glossy made especially for this symposium.
Also look out for SWZ|Maritime’s January 2025 issue, which features a special on Tideman.
