Nature as key enabler for future-proof water safety

Dr. Jim van Belzen, investigates how coastal ecosystems as natural solutions contribute to robust flood protection. As a core team member of the new Sea Level Rise Knowledge Program, he develops strategies in which nature forms the basis of water safety and availability. In this lecture, Jim takes us into a future where nature is not seen as an opponent, but as an ally. He shows how we can build robust water-retaining landscapes together, in which natural processes strengthen our technical solutions. The motto: “Not back to nature, but forward with nature.”
