On Thursday 24th of October 24 the KNVTS and KIVI Martec will visit MARIN. We will dive into the world of the brand new Seven Oceans Simulator center (SOSc).
With this globally unique research facility, MARIN is contributing to clean, smart and safe shipping and sustainable use of the ocean. Crews can be prepared in the simulator center for maritime operations that are becoming increasingly complex as container ships become larger, sea traffic increases and weather patterns become more unpredictable.
All simulators can be linked together to simulate situations with multiple ships operating under difficult conditions at sea. The new simulators are also used for research into the application of virtual reality techniques and the monitoring of unmanned ships. MARIN can also conduct research into Human Factors in the SOSc: the functioning of the crew in difficult circumstances.
MARIN uses nautical and hydrodynamic research to optimize ships, platforms, wind turbines and ports and works on innovations to realize sustainable energy, food and raw material extraction at sea.
