Yesterday at the fifth Maritime Awards Gala, self stabilising platform Ampelmann was selected HME Maritime Innovation Award Winner 2010. Crossing from ship to offshore construction; Ampelmann Operations has made it as easy as crossing the street.
The system consists of a large deck with a gangway supported by six hydraulic cylinders that measure an compensate the ship’s movements. Due to these cylinders, the deck and gangway stay still when crossing to or working on the offshore construction.
