SUMMARY:OSJ Subsea Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:New oil and gas exploration licenses in numerous regions around the world have led to increased opportunities for subsea support vessels\, particularly those involved in subsea construction\, installation\, well intervention\, and IMR projects. These developments demonstrate a positive trend in subsea exploration and related services\, creating opportunities for industry players.   \nThe annual OSJ Subsea Conference plays a crucial role in keeping professionals informed of industry developments. Staying up to date with trends and drivers is essential\, especially in the dynamic field of subsea development and technology. Advancements in technology continue to shape vessel design and capabilities. Join us at OSJ Subsea to see how next generation vessels are evolving to meet the demands of offshore operations.

SUMMARY:Symposium PartnerSHIP - From Tideman to Dutch Naval Design
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this event will be in Dutch. \nCome to the symposium PartnerSHIP – From Tideman to Dutch Naval Design. Help think about the future of naval construction in the Netherlands\, inspired by this extraordinary naval man! Someone once called him ‘the Einstein of Dutch shipbuilding’. \n150 years ago\, naval engineer Bruno Tideman carried out the first model ship trials and renewed Dutch naval construction with the founding of ‘De Schelde’ in Vlissingen. As in his time\, we are at the cradle of a new generation of naval ships. How did Tideman deal with that\, what can we learn from him\, how did naval shipbuilding develop in the century and a half after him and how can we extend those lines into the future in Dutch Naval Design? \nIn the morning part\, we dive deeper into past achievements and developments. In the afternoon\, we will build the future together. In an interactive festival programme around ‘Dutch Naval Design’\, you can partly already experience the future and the shipbuilding of the future will take centre stage. \nFinally\, Vice-Admiral Jan Willem Hartman (Commander COMMIT) will talk to a group of young people about the future they will shape and will receive a glossy made especially for this symposium. \nAlso look out for SWZ|Maritime’s January 2025 issue\, which features a special on Tideman.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: I’ll have a battery system\, please!
DESCRIPTION:But why\, really? A battery by itself is quite expensive and only introduces additional losses. In this lecture\, Matthijs Mosselaar and Akhil Ajith from Alewijnse will guide you through the considerations surrounding the choice of a battery system\, determining its size\, and whether a battery can actually pay for itself. Furthermore\, the differences between AC and DC systems will be discussed\, and the importance of good design to prevent power quality issues in (hybrid) systems will be examined.
