Er werden slechts vier commerciële vrachtschepen en een handvol nucleaire ijsbrekers gebouwd. Al deze schepen werken op reactortypes die inmiddels als “ouder” worden beschouwd.\nNieuwe ontwikkelingen op het gebied van kernenergie (zoals kleine modulaire reactoren en het gebruik van thorium als brandstof) laten een aanzienlijk potentieel zien voor de mogelijke ontwikkeling van een nieuwe commerciële scheepstoepassing. \nVoortstuwingssystemen op basis van kernenergie moeten worden gezien als enorm verschillend van de conventionele vaartuigen op basis van brandstof\, met duidelijke voordelen (geen uitstoot via de pijp en zeer hoge energiedichtheid)\, maar ook nadelen (afvalproductie\, kosten en complexiteit van de installatie). DESCRIPTION:‘Seaport Days just belongs to Amsterdam’ and ‘unique that you can go everywhere you would otherwise cycle by’. With an 8 as visitors’ rating in 2022* and more port companies participating in 2023 than last year\, green light for the second edition of Zeehavendagen Amsterdam. This year’s event will be held from June 22-25 and features more than 55 “attractions” from Amsterdam and Zaandam to IJmuiden and Beverwijk. \nFirsts in 2023: the arrival of the Royal Navy’s Zr.Ms.De Ruyter\, an open-air job market for schoolchildren\, students and job seekers in the heart of Amsterdam-Westpoort and tours on and tours with vessels from Customs\, Port of Amsterdam and nautical service providers\, among others. As in 2022\, the event coincides on the weekend with the Port Festival IJmuiden. From there\, Zeehavendagen Amsterdam organizes tours to\, among others\, Zeesluis IJmuiden\, Tata Steel and Tennet’s Net op Zee Information Center. In the course of spring\, the organization will announce more about the content of the program.

DESCRIPTION:In June\, maritime professionals will gather for the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) 11th instalment of the Surveillance\, Search and Rescue Craft (SURV) Conference. The event will take place on 21-22 June 2023 at the Wereldmuseum\, Rotterdam\, the Netherlands\, and is organised in partnership with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Damen Shipyards. \nSURV is a biennial event that brings together industry experts and professionals. It aims to promote and share technical knowledge on industry best practices. The conference will cover a range of topics\, including analyses of designs\, applications\, and operations of new vessels in this segment\, as well as a review of existing vessels and their use across all marine environments. \nThe conference will feature keynote presentations from leading experts in the field\, as well as technical sessions and panel discussions.
