SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: FibreMax\, producer of the world's strongest synthetic cable
DESCRIPTION:Please note this lecture will be in Dutch. \nSince 2004\, FibreMax in Joure has been producing unique\, patented synthetic linear applications. These applications are used\, among other things\, in large on-and-offshore cranes (so-called tether wires)\, infrastructure applications (guying of Ferris wheels\, TV towers\, bridges\, etc.) and in various Offshore Energy applications (floating wind turbine\, wave and tidal energy and at fish farming installations). \nIn recent years\, the floating wind turbine market in particular has boomed with global demand for FibreMax solutions and the possible local production of these. \nDuring the presentation\, you will get an explanation of this innovative and unique production method\, and the vision for local production in the future.

SUMMARY:KNVTS excursion to MARIN’s Seven Oceans Simulator Centre
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 24th of October 24 the KNVTS and KIVI Martec will visit MARIN. We will dive into the world of the brand new Seven Oceans Simulator center (SOSc). \nWith this globally unique research facility\, MARIN is contributing to clean\, smart and safe shipping and sustainable use of the ocean. Crews can be prepared in the simulator center for maritime operations that are becoming increasingly complex as container ships become larger\, sea traffic increases and weather patterns become more unpredictable. \nAll simulators can be linked together to simulate situations with multiple ships operating under difficult conditions at sea. The new simulators are also used for research into the application of virtual reality techniques and the monitoring of unmanned ships. MARIN can also conduct research into Human Factors in the SOSc: the functioning of the crew in difficult circumstances. \nMARIN uses nautical and hydrodynamic research to optimize ships\, platforms\, wind turbines and ports and works on innovations to realize sustainable energy\, food and raw material extraction at sea.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: Cargo drones are taking flight
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this lecture will be in Dutch.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: 'Boat must sail'
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this lecture will be in Dutch. \nSpreker: Hans Bisschop\, Damen Shiprepair & Conversion

SUMMARY:Hydrogen Leadership Forum
DESCRIPTION:Hydrogen has emerged as the premier energy choice across Europe. As the continent pivots towards maximising its production and applications\, the North-West European region stands as a fertile ground for vast renewable energy generation. Within this region lie the powerhouse nations of Norway\, Denmark\, Germany\, the Netherlands\, Belgium\, and the United Kingdom\, hosting cutting-edge energy\, manufacturing\, and chemical industries. \nThe opportunity for lucrative exploitation gleams brightly. Yet\, it requires bold action within a challenging economic and political landscape. Can we summon the courage to transform the North Sea into Europe’s paramount ‘energy reservoir’ to meet our climate goals? This demands innovative leaders who dare to stand tall\, step ahead\, and pioneer change. \nUniting these forward-thinking leaders is crucial. It enables sectors to synchronise their timelines\, infrastructure\, and future aspirations\, fostering a collective reaping of the maximum benefits from their investments.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: Delta Works 2.0
DESCRIPTION:Nature as key enabler for future-proof water safety \nDr. Jim van Belzen\, investigates how coastal ecosystems as natural solutions contribute to robust flood protection. As a core team member of the new Sea Level Rise Knowledge Program\, he develops strategies in which nature forms the basis of water safety and availability. In this lecture\, Jim takes us into a future where nature is not seen as an opponent\, but as an ally. He shows how we can build robust water-retaining landscapes together\, in which natural processes strengthen our technical solutions. The motto: “Not back to nature\, but forward with nature.”

SUMMARY:Floating Wind Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Floating Wind Solutions\, held annually in Houston\, is the ultimate opportunity for those who are presently involved in or seeking entry into floating wind. FWS facilitates network opportunities with the right experienced people while gaining knowledge of the technical solutions available and supply chain innovations on demand. Floating Wind Solutions’ mission is to utilize this platform to bring together the many critical players within the wind and offshore industries enabling accelerated adoption of Floating Wind Energy globally. This premier event’s primary goal is to accelerate the Energy Transition\, by focusing on the industrialization and commercialization of Floating Wind Energy. A world class Advisory Board ensures that the program maintains its sharp focus on the principles of the mission. \nExceptional growth in the harvesting of Floating Wind Energy will be reliant upon the technology and experience of companies historically focused on the offshore Supply Chain. With few exceptions\, these companies are the only ones who have ever designed\, constructed or installed permanently moored structures of any kind. In addition\, traditional Major Offshore Energy Operators are leading investors\, developers and operators of Floating Wind Energy Projects.
