SUMMARY:WindEurope
DESCRIPTION:WindEurope is delighted to join forces again with the city of Copenhagen and our Danish partners to deliver another wide-ranging industry gathering – WindEurope’s Annual Event 2025 in Copenhagen. Denmark is the birthplace of wind energy and the Danes are still breaking new wind power records right across the board. They are the only country in Europe to source more than half of their electricity from wind – up to 55%. We broke attendance records in 2023 with close to 16\,000 participants and are expecting to confirm this trend in 2025. \nOur 2030 targets are looming – and Europe is looking to transform its energy system. We need big decisions and a determined push to reach our goals. This is our chance to come together as a sector – to get our bearings and set our industry on the road to success.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: I’ll have a battery system\, please!
DESCRIPTION:But why\, really? A battery by itself is quite expensive and only introduces additional losses. In this lecture\, Matthijs Mosselaar and Akhil Ajith from Alewijnse will guide you through the considerations surrounding the choice of a battery system\, determining its size\, and whether a battery can actually pay for itself. Furthermore\, the differences between AC and DC systems will be discussed\, and the importance of good design to prevent power quality issues in (hybrid) systems will be examined.

SUMMARY:Symposium PartnerSHIP - From Tideman to Dutch Naval Design
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this event will be in Dutch. \nCome to the symposium PartnerSHIP – From Tideman to Dutch Naval Design. Help think about the future of naval construction in the Netherlands\, inspired by this extraordinary naval man! Someone once called him ‘the Einstein of Dutch shipbuilding’. \n150 years ago\, naval engineer Bruno Tideman carried out the first model ship trials and renewed Dutch naval construction with the founding of ‘De Schelde’ in Vlissingen. As in his time\, we are at the cradle of a new generation of naval ships. How did Tideman deal with that\, what can we learn from him\, how did naval shipbuilding develop in the century and a half after him and how can we extend those lines into the future in Dutch Naval Design? \nIn the morning part\, we dive deeper into past achievements and developments. In the afternoon\, we will build the future together. In an interactive festival programme around ‘Dutch Naval Design’\, you can partly already experience the future and the shipbuilding of the future will take centre stage. \nFinally\, Vice-Admiral Jan Willem Hartman (Commander COMMIT) will talk to a group of young people about the future they will shape and will receive a glossy made especially for this symposium. \nAlso look out for SWZ|Maritime’s January 2025 issue\, which features a special on Tideman.

SUMMARY:Floating Wind Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Floating Wind Solutions\, held annually in Houston\, is the ultimate opportunity for those who are presently involved in or seeking entry into floating wind. FWS facilitates network opportunities with the right experienced people while gaining knowledge of the technical solutions available and supply chain innovations on demand. Floating Wind Solutions’ mission is to utilize this platform to bring together the many critical players within the wind and offshore industries enabling accelerated adoption of Floating Wind Energy globally. This premier event’s primary goal is to accelerate the Energy Transition\, by focusing on the industrialization and commercialization of Floating Wind Energy. A world class Advisory Board ensures that the program maintains its sharp focus on the principles of the mission. \nExceptional growth in the harvesting of Floating Wind Energy will be reliant upon the technology and experience of companies historically focused on the offshore Supply Chain. With few exceptions\, these companies are the only ones who have ever designed\, constructed or installed permanently moored structures of any kind. In addition\, traditional Major Offshore Energy Operators are leading investors\, developers and operators of Floating Wind Energy Projects.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: Delta Works 2.0
DESCRIPTION:Nature as key enabler for future-proof water safety \nDr. Jim van Belzen\, investigates how coastal ecosystems as natural solutions contribute to robust flood protection. As a core team member of the new Sea Level Rise Knowledge Program\, he develops strategies in which nature forms the basis of water safety and availability. In this lecture\, Jim takes us into a future where nature is not seen as an opponent\, but as an ally. He shows how we can build robust water-retaining landscapes together\, in which natural processes strengthen our technical solutions. The motto: “Not back to nature\, but forward with nature.”

SUMMARY:Hydrogen Leadership Forum
DESCRIPTION:Hydrogen has emerged as the premier energy choice across Europe. As the continent pivots towards maximising its production and applications\, the North-West European region stands as a fertile ground for vast renewable energy generation. Within this region lie the powerhouse nations of Norway\, Denmark\, Germany\, the Netherlands\, Belgium\, and the United Kingdom\, hosting cutting-edge energy\, manufacturing\, and chemical industries. \nThe opportunity for lucrative exploitation gleams brightly. Yet\, it requires bold action within a challenging economic and political landscape. Can we summon the courage to transform the North Sea into Europe’s paramount ‘energy reservoir’ to meet our climate goals? This demands innovative leaders who dare to stand tall\, step ahead\, and pioneer change. \nUniting these forward-thinking leaders is crucial. It enables sectors to synchronise their timelines\, infrastructure\, and future aspirations\, fostering a collective reaping of the maximum benefits from their investments.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: 'Boat must sail'
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this lecture will be in Dutch. \nSpreker: Hans Bisschop\, Damen Shiprepair & Conversion

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: Cargo drones are taking flight
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this lecture will be in Dutch.

With grid capacity issues\, having to rely on the private capital market instead of subsidies\, and different segments of the supply chain scaling asynchronously\, there are plenty of hurdles to deal with. Europe has to stay both creative and innovate in order to solve or circumvent their effects on the development of the offshore sector. Want to help build up the blue battery of Europe and be part of the solution? Join the conversation at Offshore Industry!
