SUMMARY:Green Marine Transport 2026
DESCRIPTION:The European Conference Green Marine Transport 2026 will take place on 18-19th of March in Amsterdam\, bringing together key decision-makers and innovators from across the maritime industry. Over two days\, the conference will unite shipping companies\, port authorities\, policy makers\, leading suppliers\, and technology providers to explore the latest developments\, challenges\, and opportunities in sustainable shipping. \nThe push towards green marine transport is accelerating across Europe. From LNG\, hydrogen\, and advanced biofuels to cutting-edge vessel designs and propulsion systems\, the industry is embracing technologies that reduce environmental impact without compromising performance. The rapid emergence of electric and hybrid vessels is already reshaping short-sea and inland shipping\, opening new possibilities for low- and zero-emission operations. \nAmsterdam\, with its strong maritime heritage and commitment to sustainability\, provides the perfect backdrop for discussing these transformations. The 2026 edition will feature expert-led panel\, in-depth technical sessions\, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration between industry\, academia\, and policymakers. \nBy accelerating the shift towards cleaner operations\, green marine transport not only helps protect our oceans and air quality but also enhances the global competitiveness of European shipping. As environmental responsibility becomes a defining factor for business success\, this event will be a platform to share strategies\, showcase innovations\, and build partnerships that will shape the future of maritime transport.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: Allseas – Pioneering the next generation of clean energy
DESCRIPTION:The maritime sector accounts for 3% of global CO2 emissions and must address climate targets. Allseas has chosen a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) for sustainable ship power\, selecting a High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) for its safety\, reliability\, and zero emissions\, even in challenging conditions. \nAs nuclear regulations for marine environments continue to develop\, Allseas decided to construct the first HTGR on land. Onshore\, industrial clusters often deal with high energy expenses\, grid congestion\, and unreliable renewable energy sources. The Allseas HTGR helps relieve pressure on the grid while delivering reliable\, carbon-free power and heat—supporting faster decarbonisation and strengthening the resilience and long-term competitiveness of industry. \nErik Schreurs will outline the steps that Allseas is taking toward the goal of nuclear-powered civil shipping. Drawing on his experience with the Dutch Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection\, he will discuss the reactor technology in more detail\, the challenges that the marine environment brings\, and the approaches that are taken on the regulatory side.
