SUMMARY:LNG Bunkering & Future Fuel Global Summit 2024
DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, we welcome back the world’s most established LNG Bunkering gathering to incorporate discussion of other future fuels. The LNG Bunkering & Future Fuel Global Summit 2024 will run May 14 – 16\, in Amsterdam This is our 11th edition and our biggest to date. After an eventful year (to say the least)\, the discussions will focus on LNG\, BIO/Synthetic/E-LNG and the early development of Ammonia\, Methanol and Hydrogen. We are delighted to have some fabulous sponsors and speakers on board\, including our Official Host Partner\, TotalEnergies. \nAs the market-leading event for those committed to the decarbonisation of the global maritime industry\, the Summit is renowned for connecting the entire industry; ship owners/operators\, ports\, terminals\, O&G providers\, financiers\, classicisation societies\, engineers and more.

SUMMARY:Argus Green Marine Fuels Conference
DESCRIPTION:Get key insights from across the various sectors and supply chains involved in the decarbonisation of the marine sector to gain a competitive edge in reducing emissions.. \nThe Argus Green Marine Fuels conference returns to Amsterdam\, Netherlands in May 2024 to offer key industry insights into the competitive and progressively complex global marine fuels market. \nWith a range of legislation coming into play in Europe in 2024 as part of the EU Fit for 55 measures\, including the EU ETS\, what impact will such regulations have on all vessels calling at European ports as well as shipping and bunkering companies. The key themes in conversation will be around how the maritime sector is preparing for a multi-fuel future\, how marine fuel suppliers\, traders\, and shipowners are assessing their fuel and fleet renewable strategies and how they are planning to translate regulation into commercial propositions. Hear from senior industry leaders across the biofuels\, methanol\, ammonia\, hydrogen and LNG sectors\, alongside key regulators\, government\, finance\, and shipowners.

SUMMARY:Mari-Tech
DESCRIPTION:This year’s theme is NAVIGATING SUSTAINABLE MARINE TRANSPORTATION. Just as mariners use navigation as a safe means of direction\, we too as a larger marine community must ascertain where we are and where we are going in terms of ever-changing challenges facing maritime professionals. The rocks and shoals of increasing competition for diminishing supplies are a challenge we all face\, and we have no choice but to navigate. \nSustainable solutions are needed to meet the current realities and challenges we face globally in ship construction\, vessel operation and maintenance. These factors are dependent on materials\, knowledge and skills\, all of which are trending towards increasing demand and decreasing supply. New and advancing technologies offer astounding potential but need to be rigorously tested and approved before deployment. Our sponsors are from diverse disciplines but all must follow a similar course which includes concept\, design\, testing\, evaluations\, approvals and finally marketing. \nIn these exciting and challenging times\, we look forward to welcoming you and know that this event will illuminate your own vision of the paths forward. Individually we have pieces of the puzzle\, together we can form the solutions. \nMari-Tech was created by the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering (CIMarE) in 1976 and is the premier event for the marine engineering community in Canada. The conference has earned a respected position as a neutral\, non-political event devoted to engaging the private sector\, government and academia. \nHeld annually\, Mari-Tech is hosted in turn by each of CIMarE’s seven branches; Mari-Tech 2024 is a collaboration between the CIMarE Newfoundland & Labrador Branch and the SNAME Canadian Atlantic section and will take place in St. John’s\, NF.

SUMMARY:KNVTS lecture: Reducing container loss at sea
DESCRIPTION:GBMS is an innovative start-up in the Maritime sector. Over the last two years\, the company has developed a captains-decision support system to show the loads in container-stacks in real-time to the crew. \nThe incident with the MSC-ZOE\, 1st of January 2017 has made clear how 342 containers spread over a natural reserve have a devastating effect the environment. Sadly this is not rare event. Every year\, worldwide\, over 3000 TUE containers are lost at sea. \nIn many cases this is due to the crew not knowing how close they are sailing to the limits\, with respect to stack-loads. While sailing\, the crew does not have any indication what forces are acting in the container-stacks. Besides that\, before of loading\, the crew has to approve the cargo plan by checking the cargo security manual (CSM). However\, the CSM can ever include all possible stacking combinations. Checking is therefore very difficult without accurate and fast digital tools\, which in most cases are not available. \nGBMS has developed the Sensorium system. This system can calculate the rules laid down in the CSM in a fraction of a second. This has opened up the possibility to run these calculation very often and show the actual loads in the container stack in real time to the crew. \nDr. ir. Michiel Gunsing\, founder of GBMS\, will explain the system and show how this can reduce the loss of containers at sea. \nSpeaker: Dr. Ir. Miciel Gunsing\, founder of GBMS \nLanguage: English \nHall open: 19:15 \nStart: 19:30 \nEnd: 22:00
